Dry Vagina

Admin April 19, 2021

From some of the ‘amazing’ things that our vaginas can do, such as giving birth to a human, our vaginas can also perform ‘self lubrication’ during sex.

When our bodies are aroused enough, the vagina will produce lubricating fluids that are useful for making it easier for the penis to penetrate into the vagina.

Unfortunately we can’t ask our bodies to immediately produce lubricating fluid we want, and sometimes this can be frustrating when we feel aroused, but the vagina hasn’t been ‘wet’ yet.

There are several reasons when the vagina does not produce lubricating fluid, even though we are aroused:

1. We’re in a hurry

According to some studies, it takes women 10-45 minutes for the maximum lubricant to be produced. Therefore, please take your time when doing foreplay! 😝

2. Our Bodies Are Dehydrated

Dehydration is one of the main causes of vaginal dryness! This is because our bodies are mostly filled with water, so lack of water can also cause vaginal dryness. Don’t forget to meet the water needs in our bodies by drinking 2.7 liters of water per day!

3. Taking Anti Depressant

The side effects of taking anti-depressant drugs apart from lowering libido, can also cause vaginal dryness. Please consult with your psychiatrist to replace drugs that are balanced with your mental health and sexual life.

4. You’re Not In The Mood

Because the feeling of being aroused is very close to our psychological situation, sometimes we feel the body is too tired or not in the mood to have sex. Now this results in the vagina taking longer to produce lubricating fluid.

If you are not in the mood to have sex, it’s better to communicate with your partner.

5. It’s not your fault

Sometimes our vagina is dry not only because of ourselves, remember there is an expression “it takes 2 to tango”, which means it takes 2 people to work together to get satisfying results.

Sometimes it could be that our vagina hasn’t produced lubricating fluid because our partners can’t stimulate our bodies too well.

Therefore it is important to communicate with your partner which part of you do you prefer / dislike being touched!

6. Smoking

Smoking can block the arteries in the vaginal area and reduce moisture. Smoking can cause the vagina not to produce lubricating fluids properly as well as cause difficulty erections in men.

7. Imbalanced Hormone

The period of menopause, perimenopause, after childbirth, or while breastfeeding, can cause the level of the hormone estrogen in the body to drop, causing a decrease in the production of vaginal lubricating fluids.

IMPORTANT NOTE!

Does it mean that when we are ‘wet’ we agree to have sex?

It’s a big no!

Keeping in touch still requires approval from both parties. The vagina produces lubricating fluids only our body’s response to stimulation.

So it doesn’t mean that when you are ‘wet’, your partner can assume you agree to have sex.
